The KompetensLab project has actively followed the renovation of the Axelia building during the spring through several site visits at different stages of the process. Documentation from February and May illustrates how the spaces have gradually transformed – from a construction site into emerging modern learning environments.

The visits have been an important part of KompetensLab’s work in planning the development of a learning and simulation environment for Health and Welfare. By familiarizing themselves with the premises at an early stage, the project group has been able to envision how the spaces can be used for teaching, research, and collaboration with working life.

In August, the departments of Health and Welfare, Business, and Bioeconomy will move into Axelia. For KompetensLab, this represents a concrete opportunity to realize the vision of a flexible and interprofessional learning environment, where students can practice in simulated situations and, together with professionals, develop the future of health and welfare services.

The work now continues with planning and building KompetensLab ahead of autumn 2026, when operations will take shape in the new premises.
